Ophthalmology is a clinical discipline exploring anatomy, physiology and pathology of the visual organ and auxiliary eye apparatus. Importance and necessity of its teaching at the final stage of doctor’s training is caused by the fact that eye diseases are at the first place among human illnesses and account for approximately 20% of all appeals to medical institutions. Eye diseases result in early disability or limits in profession selection. Thus, it is safe to say that an ophthalmologist can be one of the first doctors in healthcare.uk
